Geoffrey (Jeff) Morse originally licensed KN7HOZ in 1958, Conditional in 1959 (K7HOZ), Extra 1975 (K7GA) 8
years in USN Submarine Service (ST1(SS), mostly diesel boats and a few boomers), 12 years in USCG (STCS, 378's
D14 and PACAREA jobs), retired as an E-8 with combined 20 years service. Retired again - for the last time -
(10/01/07) after 17 years as a Merchant Marine Radio Officer, most recently permanently assigned to the
container ship MV MAUNAWILI (MATSON NAVIGATION). When on board MAUNAWILI and various other container,
tanker and ro-ro (roll on, roll off) vessels (averaging about 6 months a year or more at sea) was active mostly on 40
and 30 meter cw in the evenings and nights as we steamed/motored throughout the "Seven Seas" working DX stations
(that were now local as we passed by) that were using low power and had small antenna setups that seldom heard a
USA callsign, let alone a ship. Miss doing that.... some really great and interesting QSO's....
Struggling to get the tower/beams/Zepp wire up in the air at the "new" diggs but lately have been spending a lot of
my meager time, funds and energy in the world of repeater ownership (seemingly right now a lot more important than
my individual station since the amazing BEACHNET system involves the efforts of a great many - and affects
literally hundreds of amateurs and thousands of people). Currently using a Hustler 6BTV as an elevated GP with
resonant radials, mostly on 80 and 40 meters. Have an old trap dipole (Hy-gain 2BDQ purchased in 1965 and it still
works!) for 75/40 set up as an NVIS Vee for HF NW Emergency Nets on SSB and local QSO's. Also enjoy passing
out semi-rare WAHKIAKUM COUNTY contacts and working others with vintage and home brew gear on my favorite
mode - CW.

Latest layout - always changing (improving?) - Drake C Twins
hardwired to a Kenwood TL-922A (SSB) (Heath SB-1000 to my son,
K7YFP and Swan MKII sold). OMNI 6+ hardwired to the HERC II
Linear (CW). IC-706MKIIG HF backup rig, local repeater scanning
and general digital modes/Pactor III Winlink via the SCS PTC-IIusb
(RMS Express/RMS Relay). Lots of other vintage and home brew gear
waiting in the wings for winter-weather-repair projects (and figuring
out where I can put everything in the small hamshack room!)
